Mindful tips for Christmas

With festivities approaching here are some tips to help you be more mindful this Christmas.

1. Have a digital detox
On the lead up to this time of year, move aside mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Not only will this free up time with your family and time to prepare, but it will also reduce social comparison and pressure.

2. Show self compassion.
It is easy to get caught up in a festive frenzy of social interactions and preparation. Take time with your immediate family, get out the board games. Just as importantly, take some well earned time for yourself, even if it is just 10 minutes with your favourite book.

3. Eat consciously.
It is easy to over indulge this time of year, but do it with all of the senses switched on. When eating, enjoy your food, take in your surroundings, the smells, the textures and the taste. Pay attention and turn off all distractions.
