Global Recycling Day 2023

The 18th of March is Global Recycling Day, a time to highlight the importance of recycling. Recycling plays a vital role in reducing pollution and keeping the environment clean.

Did you know that 55% of Brits place items that could be recycled into general rubbish bins? It is important to recycle your household rubbish correctly, here are some guidelines from Medway Council on how to sort your rubbish! Here is some more information about how to sort your rubbish, taken from Medway Council’s website.

Blue reusable bag: Magazines, newspapers, envelopes, junk mail, paper, cardboard, wrapping paper (no foil or glitter).

White reusable bag/Clear sacks: Glass bottles or jars, metal food and drink cans, plastic food packaging, clean metal foil, aerosol cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays.

Brown wheelie bin: food and garden waste including fruit and vegetable peelings, eggshells, plate scrapings, garden trimmings and weeds, small branches, dead plants.

Black rubbish sacks: For all other general rubbish, such as disposable nappies.
