FREE Escape Rooms for Young People in Medway
We wanted to share an amazing opportunity for young people across Medway! The Youth Service is offering free mobile escape rooms to groups of young people (aged 9-17 years old) across the whole of Medway. We can deliver this in our own youth centres or can travel and deliver from any other location. These will take approximately 1 hour to complete (however, if you are providing a room, please allow for time to set up and clear away). These will be running on Mondays.
New Evening Sessions: Starting now, Monday evenings at Strood Sports Centre will be dedicated to our escape room adventures.
Booking Information: If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact directly by email (david.leece@medway.gov.uk). We can discuss available times as we have some flexibility to accommodate different schedules.
Eligibility Criteria: To participate in this, young people need to be based in Medway and aged between 10 to 19 years old.
Group Arrangements: We encourage professionals/parents/carers/participants to arrange their own groups, ideally comprising of 6 to 8 members.
Further Inquiries: Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to david.leece@medway.gov.uk.
There are a multitude of different benefits to young people taking part in escape rooms. Firstly, it improves communication and teamwork. When a group of young people come together to work out a problem, effective communication is key to success; they will have to effectively communicate every single detail of the room. The young people will also need to listen to other players, which brings forth the opportunity to see the value in contributions from others. It is a great way for them to socialise and strengthen their friendships and relationships in a safe environment. Escape rooms boost problem solving skills, critical thinking, analytical skills, time management skills, confidence and mental health. It increases young people’s patience and help them learn early on that things take time. They won’t be able to solve every puzzle in a matter of minutes. Escape rooms help develop young people’s abstract thinking, ability to keep an open mind and to think outside the box.
